Back to the pineapples

After taking a little break from the scrappy pineapple blocks, I buckled down...

and made the last two.

Then I set them into rows, added them to the previous rows and a flimsy was born.

Won't it look great on a couch and used to snuggle in while reading a book or watching TV?

Now it waits it's turn to be quilted. It is approximately 50x60.

Pineapple progression

My blue and green pineapple blocks progressed a bit today. I was going to use this many blocks and then add borders. But after getting it this far I decided I didn't want borders. So I will make a few more blocks to add two more rows.

It's kinda a miracle I even sewed yesterday as I got sick with a stomach flu on Thursday night and all day Friday I was down in bed. Still wasn't feeling anywhere near top notch but was a bit bored so I decided to try sewing, glad I did as it passed the afternoon while hubby napped, yep he now has it.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year and I'll see you in 2025!!

Twelve pineapple blocks

My pineapples have really piled up in the last few days. I now have 12 green blocks done. Here is the first batch that you saw me working on in a previous post.

And below is the second batch I finished yesterday. I only had a small batch of my green strings with me so there are repeats but I am ok with that as they will be scattered with blue pineapples. Yes I have 10 blue ones made from the summertime sewing. I worked up a design in EQ8 and I only need 10 of each color for a lap size. So I will have 2 green ones for seed for a future quilt;) Not sure if I will go ahead and get these to flimsy stage or take a little break from these and do something else.

Speaking of pineapples we got a real one for .99 last week and we are still munching on it, so delicious!

Green pineapples

Green pineapple quilt blocks that is. They need a couple more rounds to finish them off. I am using the Creative Grids pineapple trim tool. When I went to trim the third round I thought for sure I wasn't using the right size trim tool, I have the small and large. I only brought the large with me and it didn't look the same as ones I finished this summer. Back to You Tube, after watching a bit more I discovered I had the right size but wasn't lining it up correctly, whew!!  Not the first time this tool had me puzzled but after watching the video it's easy and fun! I plan to piece lots of blocks over the next few months!

Some of this and some of that

Last week I worked on several different things and I did it in my camper. More on that in a minute, but here are some projects. In Wednesday's post I showed the start of my blue pineapple blocks. I couldn't resist making more and since I had more blue and neutral scraps with me why not make more, now I have a grand total of 10 blue made. These were really so enjoyable to make.

Here they are all together.

After the scrappy fun I decided I better get the pieces cut and sew up this snowman panel. An identical one was made and sold last winter, lucky I had purchased two of them! This week will be a longarm and binding kind of week.

A little more accomplished on the flag cross stitch.

We were up north at the PGI convention(Pyrotechnic Guild International). It is a week long fireworks convention with seminars, classes and then several displays in the evening. These are not your ordinary everyday fireworks, they are from professional businesses that design really neat fireworks. Three nights of the week are PGI members and the public and the other nights are just for the members. We are members as hubby enjoys the classes and seminars and then in the evenings we go in together for the spectacular displays. Unfortunately the weather didn't always cooperate. There were two nights that events were postponed because of rain. And it was darn cold at night sitting out and watching the displays. We were wearing five layers of clothes plus wrapped in fleece blankets!! The wind didn't help either!!  It was mid 50's at 11pm, plus one night it was a bit of light rain off and on. Thank goodness we have a fireplace in the camper so when we got back there we could warm up quickly!

And this one is made up of drones, the drones kept changing within the display and consisted of 1800 drones. It started out with planets, the earth, and landing on the moon. It was so neat. This is a very shortened video of one part of it. Put your sound on:)
