Christmas in July

Little by little I will be working on Christmas in between getting things ready for the fall shopping season. Today I have what I finished on Friday. A gingham and tree table topper inspired by a Primrose Cottage pattern.

I know most of you have seen me making this style for a while now. But I did use a different fabric for the medium color in this one which is the one with little candy canes. I found a piece big enough for the center of this topper while doing some organization of fabrics.

And the backing is from a bolt of red and white that I bought from Marshall Dry goods. I need to take time to do some piecing of leftovers/scraps for some future backings too.

Not sure that much sewing will get done this week. I'll be in that room but not sewing! Hubby and I are doing a big project, it almost got the best of me yesterday!!

BTW I hope you all got to enjoy the fireworks on Saturday night. We did not. We went into town to watch, sat for 1.5 hours and they sent up 5 minutes worth of fireworks and then it stopped. We, along with lots of other people, waited for 20 minutes or so and then someone in the crowd got a message that they were canceling for the night as there was a T storm rolling in. We did see lightning in the distance and wondered if they were going to hurry up. Everyone ran to their cars and then it just poured down.  Sunday night we went back to our spot to view as they always did a rain date in the past so we assumed it was on for Sunday night. NOPE we got there and no one else was around. Got online and found it was canceled for this year!! What no fireworks for the 250th, we were so disappointed. They said they had technical difficulty Sat. night so they were canceled. BUMMER!

Happy mail-winnings-working and give away

Remember the Starstruck runner tutorial I entered into the tips and tutorial festival at Meadow Mist Designs and Quilting Jetgirl a few weeks ago?  Well I was floored when Cheryl emailed me and told me I was one of the winners!!!!!!

This was one of the prizes that arrived last week.  Perhaps you recognize the box?  My first ever Quilt Planner!  I had not seen one in person before so I was happy to explore its contents.  I already have a couple days blocked off for a project next year;)   OMG look how cute it is and even matches the flannel I covered my big ironing board with!

Here is a list of all the wonderful goodies I won-I am still shocked!! Thank you Cheryl and Yvonne and all the sponsors.

And the thanks go to all of you that voted for me. I appreciate all of you that read my blog and leave comments!  I am going to have a give away to show that appreciation so hang in to the end of the post for info on that.

So you want to know what the working part of this email subject is.  Well as followers you know that I do several craft shows each fall.  Last weekend was the last of them for the year. It's been fun, but I am glad they are over.  The local shows were all down some this year, however having some winter/Christmas items left wasn't all bad.  I am busy listing some of them on Etsy.  It's working as I have sold some already. I ave a few more to list this weekend.   I am still amazed that my Etsy shop is keeping me hopping and I love it.  At this time I am thinking I will drop one of my local shows next year.

As to what I have been making more of, are my snowman runners-I can't keep these in stock very long.  Pinch me!!

And Tree runners

And finishing up 5 turkey runners for an Etsy order.  Now you know why the blog has been rather quiet lately, just repeat ones you have already seen a gazillion times!

And the thanks go to all of you that voted for me. I appreciate all of you that read my blog and leave comments!  I am going to have a give away to show that appreciation so hang in to the end of the post for info on that.

Now what you have been waiting for-the giveaway!   I will be giving away one of my patterns(your choice) on Craftsy to THREE lucky people!  Just leave me a comment telling me your Christmas plans.  You don't have to be a follower but I would sure love it if you were.  Here is the important part, make sure I have your email address.  If I don't I won't be able to contact you if you are a winner.  I am not going to be able to take time to go hunting for it so please be sure to leave it if you think you might be a no reply blogger.  I have had several of you lately and I feel bad I can't respond to your comment. This giveaway will close Monday morning Dec 17th at 8 a.m.

Trees, Trees and more Trees

Heather Mulder Peterson from Anka's Treasures recently had a quilt along for either the Let It Snow quilt from her book Angles with Ease 2 or this runner.  The runner she wrote up and gave those of us who wanted to make it instead of the quilt.  Since I love making runners I chose the runner.

This is my finished runner. My trees are all from green scraps from my green bin. We started by making the trees so I didn't bother to pick out my border fabric. After all I have 2 tubs of Christmas fabric-surely I will have something to go with those green trees. Yep I sure did:-)   I love the pinecone fabric with it, just perfect IMHO!  The pattern goes together very easily. You do need Heather's Angles with Ease ruler to do the designs in the book(and this runner). But since I tend to be a ruler junkie, that wasn't a problem as I already had it ;-)

For the quilting I choose wishbones for the trees, loops for the background. One inch piano keys for the border finishes it up.
