Setting myself some goals this year has been a good thing for finishing up projects that might have otherwise just got shoved to the back of the closet. I joined the Finish Along over at On the Windy Side for the 2nd quarter this year. I entered 7 projects and I have now completed 4 of them and I will be able to finish up another yet, so I feel pretty good about that! Hmmm I think I didn't blog about # 3 yet-I'll do that tomorrow or friday :-)
Here is the latest finish that will be at home in our family room. A few years ago these solids were a reward we received after finishing a shop hop in our part of the state! If you visited all the shops and had your passport stamped you received a fat quarter bundle free :-) So of course, in my usual style, I have to let things age a bit while deciding exactly what I should make with them LOL. I finally decided and pieced this quilt December of 2013.
I kept the quilting simple by only using two easy to stitch designs and alternating them every other block. The designs are from Jodi Robinson's book Modern Simplicity. I love her designs, very effective but easy to stitch and give a great impact.
I might use the new one as the fall/winter quilt for the wall and the one that is hanging up there now will be spring/summer since it is a little lighter in color.
I'll be linking up with the FAL soon as it is the end of the quarter soon! The link on the left side bar will get you to the website where everyone will soon be showing their accomplishments!
That is a nice quilt. I like the simple design...so effective a d your quilting design is the perfect choice.
ReplyDeleteI have let sets of fabric set for a while too. I like how the quilting really adds great texture to your quilt!
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a fun quilt, and I really like the quilting on it. I am not going to do well at all on this quarter's goals, unfortunately. I got stuck with several of my projects and set them aside, only to be inspired by something that isn't even on the list. Ah well.

It looks amazing. I love the two alternating quilting designs. And your backing is so much fun.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the quilting idea!!!!! It's perfect and so nicely done!!!! This piecing pattern is one of my faves and your choices are wonderful!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing 4 (5?) out of 7 possible finishes - that's a great result. So far I have only manged 3 out of 6, but hoping for one more! Your solids quilt is wonderful and I love how you have quilted it.
ReplyDeleteI went on my first MN Quilt hop last summer and am hoping to get out there again. I finished the whole state; took 8 days and 3400 miles. My fabric bill was larger than my food, gas, and lodging bills all combined. So am not sure hubby will let me go again!! Obviously, I have no will power when it comes to pretty new fabric collections!! Good finish on the quilt. Bravo!!
ReplyDeleteCongraulatons on your goal list! Your quilting is perfect for this and just love the solids you used!
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Vicki!! This is such a fun quilt (gotta LOVE free fat quarter sets!), in both the colors and the quilting. My UFO work and finishes progress are swamped at the moment until I finish the kids' quilts for their wedding and graduation, so I really enjoy seeing others get their finishes in. :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely finish, Vicki! The quilting really makes this quilt shine!
ReplyDeleteWonderful quilting design on this one. And Woot! Woot! on another finish!
ReplyDeleteSeriously love this quilt! And your quilting just makes it shine - as usual ;) Congrats on another finish!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great quilt, Vicki! I like how you quilted it, simple, but so effective...I tend to overthink (case in point, current quilt) a lot of my quilts. It really packs a punch on the sofa, wow, love it.
ReplyDeleteI love the bold, graphic deign and the colors you chose. The quilting is so great! (I wouldn't use the word "simple" to describe it.) Great choice.
ReplyDeleteThat quilt looks great in your room. It goes so well with the artwork on the wall. Well done on your finish. *Visiting as a member of the official 2015 Finish-Along cheerleading squad*
