A little Scrappy UFO

In the closet with the rest of my UFO's I found these 8.5" square strip blocks. And get this, I even had left myself a little drawing of what these were for, LOL.  Seriously I need to do this more often as I pulled out several other UFO's that had no notes, that is frustrating.

The plan was to snowball the corners with 2.5" squares. I even had the background fabric stored with these blocks!

I was able to quickly cut my background squares with the Accuquilt multiple 2.5" square die. At six layers thick I cut 54 squares in one pass.  After that I finished a couple blocks to see how they would look.

The next day I whipped through the green and gold and here is what I have so far. Oh how good it feels to work on a scrappy UFO!

The machine knitting of hats continued through out the week, here are the results of that.

  1. it looks like you sure have a large basket of yarn to go through - hat making should be using up a bit! nice to have a ufo with the instructions :)

  2. The knitting machine must be very fast. Wow that's a lot of pretty hats! Great way of using those string blocks with the snowballed corners. I might steal that idea myself.

  7. That looks like a fun find, Vicki! With all the strip sets made and little squares cut, I bet it goes together quickly. Does it together in columns like your photo above? It will be fun to see all the colors!

  9. How nice to pull out a UFO and be able to recall where you left off so you can pick it right up again. The snowball quilt will be nice.

  13. Your block grabbed my attention since I'm starting to make the drunkard paths blocks. It would be a lot easier to make a snowball but I'll persist for awhile on the DP. Wow! You are really cranking out the hats. I'm sure some "ears" will be very happy to have one of them.

  16. Hi Vicki! I find it amusing that you worked on the green and gold squares, since the Packers are now out of the football playoffs. Very cool that you left yourself some notes, and SO very cool with the AccuQuilt die. Fifty-four squares in one pass is pretty darn sweet. Yippee to more hat knitting. Your whole post looks fun and productive to me. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
