We all seem very anxious for spring to arrive and stay! We had 52 degrees yesterday and we had our first outdoor walk of the season, it felt great even with a little wind but the sun felt so good.
Last week before we got the unwanted 4" of snow (which is gone now) I spotted our tulips were up! Yes the real ones outside are up about 3" already, they are on the south side right next to the house so they must have been pushing through while still covered with snow. As soon as the snow melted we discovered them. All that to say I was inspired to make this tulip table runner.
Some curved template in various curvature were used for the tulip quilting and the leaves. The stems received some U turn quilting while the background was happy with a stipple. The red gingham provided the lines for piano key type quilting.

The snow on our deck is all gone now, the rest of it will take a little longer. Pretty tulip runner!
ReplyDeletesounds like the winter in the north is almost a thing of the past? Glad you are now finding tulips - do you see tulips before daffodils there? or do you not have daffodils?
ReplyDeleteAnother winner Vicki. I was trying to see the quilting on the border but it isn't obvious even when I enlarge. Your quilting is always so nice (dare I say perfect?) I need to plant some daffodils one of these years. Hope your real tulips are as pretty as your fabric ones.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for some tulips, too - sounds like yours are about as far along as mine! For now, I guess we'll just have to settle for fabric tulips. That's a pretty design, and I love your quilting on it, too!
ReplyDeleteI love how you use those checkered fabrics in the borders. Sure makes a statement. This is adorable and will sell quickly. BTW - I finally did "gift" myself with an Accuquilt Go cutter. I'm excited to try it out.
ReplyDeleteAnother pretty runner, Vicki. I love how you staged it with the watering can...perfect!
ReplyDeleteYour tulip runners are just perfect - so pretty. Glad you have some real ones too!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have some warmer air and sunshine! We're supposed to go over 80 for a couple of days, then back into 60s. I hope to take advantage of sun and no rain for a couple of days! The tulips look great, and real ones are even better. I think mine are bloomed out, but my son brought me a couple of Easter lilies yesterday. =)
ReplyDeleteLove the tulip runner, Vicki! The tulips here have pretty much come and gone...like the daffodils and Bradford Pear trees! Thanks for linking up with Monday Musings. I hope you don't get anymore snow this year!
ReplyDeleteMy heart is leaping over your tulip table runner. I love it in red!!!! Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog
ReplyDeleteLove your tulip runner!!! Looking forward to the real tulips soon!!! We woke up to 9" last Saturday!?!
ReplyDeleteA perfect table runner for spring! Thanks for joining Sew & Tell :)
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki! Wonderful Spring runner. This screams Spring loud and clear and we are more than ready for it. We've had goofy weather - I drove through three hail storms on the way home last night. I'm afraid to look at the damage to my car but I'm glad it wasn't my head!! Thanks for the quilting closeups and for the Accuquilt links. Happy Easter to you and your family. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteReally cute I love tulips
