This is the start of yet another scrappy string quilt using greens, blues and a tad of neutral. I need lots more blocks, these are 9.5".
The pattern is Two Bits by Cynthia from Quilting is more fun than Housework blog. It's a fun pattern but I wish I would have had a lighter neutral available for the pinwheel. They don't stand out as much as I wished. I am going to take a little break from it.
Here are the slippers I have knit in the last couple months.
And here is what we saw the other day while ATVing. These big horn sheep were actually on the golf course lawn! We saw a couple others in the mountains but didn't get their photo as they disappeared too quickly and were farther away.
Your scrappy strings are pretty! Wow on all those slippers. The bighorn sheep must be fond of fairway grass. ;)
ReplyDeleteI like that more subtle pinwheel. They still stand out. And of course those blues and greens together are awesome. Seeing those big horn sheep on a golf course must be something! LOL When my SIL lived in the Black Hills we used to see the big horns nearby quite often.
ReplyDeleteYour pinwheels and strings make a nice block. Nice collection of slippers in some fun colors. Those bighorn sheep are huge.
ReplyDeleteJust so wonderful -your array of knitted slippers. Awesome. I love your blocks and like the muted pinwheel too. Bighorn Sheep...wow!
ReplyDeleteThose are neat blocks! It's fun to see the different things that can be done with strings. Great photo of your rainbow of slippers, too! Were the bighorn sheep on a golf course in Yuma? That's pretty amazing to see them like that, just grazing out in the open!
ReplyDeleteneat slippers you have gotten carried away with them! Nice quilts.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute string blocks, with pinwheels!!! The slippers photo is adorable! And wow, on the big horn sheep!!!
ReplyDeleteOh man, it would be so exciting to see big horn sheep!! I already miss Tucson. We came home to snow and expect more this week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection of slippers and an amazing photo of those Rams.
ReplyDeleteYour new Two Bits looks beautiful! Blues and greens are my favorite, like trees and water and sky.
ReplyDeleteYikes...I bet the golf course wasn't happy with the sheep enjoying their lawn! It looks like you are making a great dent in your yarn collection. (Cute picture set up too.) If you went too light (as in WOW or such) I think it would look really stark and basically overpower the rest of the quilt. You are getting a lot done these days.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous quilt to work on. I love the color choices and the sweet pinwheels. Aaah those bighorn sheep; how fortunate to get to see them and get a great photo. Enjoy your week. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThe weather looks lovely! Thanks for sharing you use of strings/scraps in the Sew & Tell party. How funny that the bighorns were grazing on the golf course ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your scrappy string blocks- and those slippers are cool - what pattern do you use? xx
ReplyDeleteDon't fret it! I like them and it is a good use of what you have on hand...carry on. I love seeing the sites....wish I were somewhere a little warmer but it may be a balmy 30 today!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt. Love the scrappy strings - a pinwheel log cabin block, if you will!! Those sheep are cool. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
