Pink heart-squirrel

I have never joined in the Project Quilting but was prompted by Wendy so after looking up the rules I decided to join in the fun this week.  You must create and totally finish something pink with three layers sewn together. It just so happens I have one of those!!

This was a squirrel for me, the idea was born, I didn't have anything specific I needed to do Monday so I got right to work on it. Thank you @Accuquilt for providing the 2, 3,and 4" heart die. The red fabric was fused with Heat n Bond Lite before I ran it through the die cutter. I used two hearts of each size and with one pass I was ready to applique!

By Tuesday afternoon my table runner was finished. I love it!!

I tend to quilt my piece and then applique it. It just is easier and I get better results that way as the quilting stabilizes the piece.

I hope you will come back tomorrow as I have a new pattern launch!!  A little sneak peak:)

Update on last week's projects

Work continued on the Tumbler quilt and it is now a flimsy. It will join a few others in the 'to be quilted' pile until it's their turn on the longarm;) It really was a fast piecing project that will be a donation quilt sometime this year.

After that I was in the mood to piece another yellow morning star table runner. This used an Accuquilt BOB(block on board)Morning Star die.  I have made several of these in the last 4 years. They look intense to piece but really it is not, since the dog ears are cut off everything just lines up.  Start to finish in a little over a day.

And then for some Valentine fun, another round wedge using different fabrics.  Check out the freehand quilting design I did on this one.  Its a new to me design that I just saw Christina Cameli, from A Few Scraps on Facebook, draw on video. Hearts and swirls, so perfect for this topper!

The closeup shows the colors better. I used a light pink Isacord thread on top.

There was also progress on the string snowball quilt I have been working on the last couple weeks. But no pix on that today.  The hat knitting came to a standstill this week while I wait for a part to come in a couple weeks. I was bending needles as the carriage got hung up and banged into the ends. Since I started knitting these I have bent 12 needles!  Time to see if this part helps.

Weekly Goals

A day late for To Do Tuesday, but better late than never right!  I'll get right to it today.

The goals for the week were:

1. Working on binding three identical 24" toppers ✅ Binding done and also the applique of the holly, I do have to hide the threads yet.

2. Bind 3 pumpkin runners ✅ All done and in the mail.

3.  Anything is fair game...  First up was having Wendy come and sew with me on Monday and Tuesday. We had lots of chattering and sewing!

That's all that was on my list but I finished up these 2 table runners this week also.

And for a little unexpected fun a squirrel sat there begging me to make these placemats.  So I had to listen to him didn't I 😁  Once I decided on how they should look I set right to it on Saturday and by night time they were all done.

It's been a good week.  So what's on tap this week?

1. Turkey runner
2. Bind another Valentine runner
3. Piece 2 more of those red and white 24" toppers (I have an order of 8 total)
4. Poinsettia runner
5. Anything else I have time for.

Wishing you all a great week ahead!  Visit all the goal setters at To Do Tuesday, also linking with Wednesday Wait Loss
