Hearts take two

Two more heart table runners have been taken over the finish line. First up a reversed S swirl.

This is almost a wordless post as I know we are all busy preparing for eating some turkey tomorrow.

And the second one.

Wishing all a very Happy Thanksgiving. I am so very grateful for you, my readers who keep faithfully coming back to read my post and check out what I made and leave me comments, thank you!!  And I am grateful for all the new ones coming from linky parties that stop by, thank you!!
Here are the Wednesday linky parties I am participating in today.

Finishes for Two Holidays

Today I show you two more finishes of my reversed S swirl table runners. The first is made from adorable snowman fabric.

Some of these fabrics have sparkle to them which makes them look like freshly fallen snow.

The backing fabric has green dots which coordinates with the green skinny swirl border.

And then we jump to the next holiday. As an Etsy shop owner I always have to be a season or two ahead so that shoppers get their item and have it ready for decorating.  I present to you Valentine reversed S swirl.

Mixing hearts with pink and red cupcakes together in this table runner seemed appropriate.  We all love sweet treats on Valentine's Day.

The black and the pink heart fabrics shine nicely with their sparkly fabric (which is hard to capture on camera).

Today I will spend some time cutting out a few more items to piece over the weekend.  What are you doing this weekend?

From one season to another

The three Valentine runners are done, and all spoken for.  I had made an extra for Etsy and it left the shop in a day!  Maybe I'll make more and maybe I won't we'll see.  It was kinda fun to dig out the reds and pinks after so many items made in fall colors and greys for the snowmen;)  If you want to make your own heart project you can find the tutorial for the block at The Crafty Quilter blog

One like this.

And two of the darker ones like this.  How about that, I jumped back to Christmas and finished up another candle table runner for a customer.

Keeping this post short and simple, I'll have more snowman runners finished up soon.  November has been a busy quilting month but so much of the same over and over that I just don't take the time to post it all.  But for those of you that still stop by to read my blog, even if I don't have a new item to show you, I want to let you know how much I appreciate your visit and comments!

More Hearts

I am loving making a variety of Valentine table runners.  Last Thursday Connie reminded us of her tutorials for Heart table runners, you can see her post HERE.  That was all it took for me to finally decide what to make with this pink fabric I picked up at JoAnn Fabrics the week before.  Thanks Connie for the wonderful tutorial.  I pieced it Thursday afternoon, quilted and bound it Friday morning and had it in my ETSY shop before noon.

A fun hook swirl to keep it whimsical, and a piano key border spaced every 1.5".

Friday afternoon I got started on quilting my Island Batik projects for my day to post for the Four Season's blog hop on Thursday Feb 1st.  Well things didn't proceed as I had thought they would.  My finger met up close and personal with my longarm😬😝😬😢  OMG fellow quilters, don't let it happen to you.  Scared the stuffing right out of me.  It hurt like the dickens and it throbbed like crazy-but hardly any bleeding. Seriously I bleed more with a single pin prick!  That is what I thought was really weird.  The other weird was within 20 minutes it stopped hurting and throbbin.  Cleaned it up, wrapped it up and within an hour I went back to quilting.  So it went through my middle finger of my left hand and it was on the side of the finger, so not through the bone, thank goodness for that.  It wasn't even sore the next day unless I applied pressure there, so all is good again.

I finally put my Regatta quilt on the frame this afternoon!

Romance is in the air

Did the title draw you in?  I just wanted to show you the Valentine panel again now that it is all done.

Last week it was at this stage-

I added pink and brown tiny borders to each of the small blocks.

I added a pink border to the top and right side.

A brown border was added to the left side and bottom.

And here is how it looks all done!  It's listed in my Etsy shop now.  A few years ago I made one for myself and love putting it in my foyer above my treadle sewing machine.  When I saw a couple panels at a garage fabric sale 2 years ago I snatched them up.  A friend wanted one last year so I made it up for her.  And now this is the last panel.

I have been getting so many more comments lately from No-reply bloggers-if you don't hear from me you are a no reply blogger, please leave me your email if you want me to respond, I sure want to!

Strings, Valentine, and Northern Woods

You are probably thinking that is a mighty strange title for a post-am I right?  Well it encompasses three projects.

First project- is the string quilt my grandson has been helping me with on snow days off school.  A year ago we started it and he really loved it so I don't work on it except when he  hangs out with me on those snow days.  Last Thursday was one of those days.   I taught him how to carefully tear off the phone book paper from each block.  We worked on 21 blocks.   After tearing them off I had him arrange the blocks on the design wall and carry them in pairs to me at the sewing machine.  We completed the flimsy, which will become a donation quilt, in short order.  I am so tickled that he likes to be doing a sewing project with me.  He said next time he will help me with the other colors for another quilt.  In case you are wondering he is 6 years old.

The second project- yesterday I decided was a good day to work on a Valentine wall hanging to put in my Etsy shop.  This is how the preprinted panel looked before I cut it apart.

And here you see I cut all the little blocks apart and rearranged them.  It is now all pieced and waiting it's turn in the quilting line:)  Hopefully I will get to it this week.

The third project is one of my projects for the Island Batik Four Seasons Blog hop that is going on right now until Feb 1st (which is my day).

Valentine runner-first finish of 2018

I wanted to create a Valentine table runner for my Etsy shop.  So I looked around on the net and found a cute paper pieced heart by Pieced By Number and asked if I could make it into a table runner to sell, the answer was yes.
After paper piecing five heart blocks I added a 1" spacer of gray to make it a bit longer. before adding the pink and red borders.

I followed the lines of the fabric in the border to quilt the piano keys.

I had the perfect backing fabric in my stash-well the whole table runner came from my stash. No trip out in the cold 5 degree day to get any of it.

You can find the free pp heart HERE, she also has a bunch more patterns in her Etsy shop.

Happy Valentines Day!

I spent the day quilting, what else, LOL. Well the hubbs and I went out last night for dinner, had to celebrate early so he could still go to league tonight.
Even though I quilted this quilt a couple years ago it is still one of my favorites and is fitting to show today.
