Finishes for Two Holidays

Today I show you two more finishes of my reversed S swirl table runners. The first is made from adorable snowman fabric.

Some of these fabrics have sparkle to them which makes them look like freshly fallen snow.

The backing fabric has green dots which coordinates with the green skinny swirl border.

And then we jump to the next holiday. As an Etsy shop owner I always have to be a season or two ahead so that shoppers get their item and have it ready for decorating.  I present to you Valentine reversed S swirl.

Mixing hearts with pink and red cupcakes together in this table runner seemed appropriate.  We all love sweet treats on Valentine's Day.

The black and the pink heart fabrics shine nicely with their sparkly fabric (which is hard to capture on camera).

Today I will spend some time cutting out a few more items to piece over the weekend.  What are you doing this weekend?

Dramatic, Sophisticated, Glitzy

The title of this post describes these three table runners that I have finished. My reversed S Swirl design works up nicely in any color scheme.  The trick is the placement so those checkerboards and their frame show up nicely.  You need five fabrics to make these. I think this one is the dramatic one.

Sometimes I pull it off with just the right fabric choices and sometimes it doesn't come out the same as I see in my head!  The one below is an example of that.  The outer wedges don't have quite enough contrast in my opinion. On the other hand maybe someone will like the blending better.  I mean we are all different and like different things.  This one has a sophisticated look with it's floral fabric.

And just to change things up a bit I made it into a round topper.  This one I think is the glitsy one.  Each one of these has gold metallic highlights in some of the fabrics.

Don't forget there is a fun blog hop happening.  It's the 12 days of Christmas in July blog hop hosted by Sarah at Confessions of A Fabric Addict.  My day is Tuesday, I hope you'll come take a peek at my project.  I have something frosty to share with you!!  Here is the full line up.

To Do Tuesday #23

It's crazy to think I have written 23 To Do Tuesday posts already!  I never used to make a written list, I only had lists in my head, but this seems to be working for me;)

So here is what I hoped to accomplish this week:  Work on five table runners. Guess what- I can give that a big 'ole check!!!  Yep done that and then some, oh my gosh it was a good week.  I can thank the weather mostly for that.  It wasn't all that great to do anything else.

Want to see the accomplishments?  Well of course you do, right? Most of these you have seen before in one form or another, or one fabric or another.

First I quilted and bound two of these, they are identical so I am only showing one.  And that is because I forgot to take a pic when I had them both out😜.  These were pieced over the winter.

This is a new design for me this year.  I had a different watermelon one a couple years ago.  But thought I would try this out for the shop.  It measures 40.5" x 16".  The green and white rinds are made with the bias tape maker and appliqued onto the watermelon and background fabrics.  And just look at that we actually had real watermelon for the perfect photo op!

A close up of the quilting.

You might have already seen the two patriotic runners that I posted on Friday so I won't show photos again, if you didn't see them you can read about them HERE.

On Saturday I joined The Inquirying Quilters facebook group called Saturday Sew In.  It's very informal but nice to get to know other quilters better.  Plus share inspiration of course.  I started off the morning by binding my OMG quilt.  Yes did you catch that I am done with it!!!  If you remember I was having a hard time deciding what design to quilt on it. I figured it out and quilted it on Friday. I love how it came out.  Here is a glimpse of it, you will see it's own post this week.

I pieced these two reverse S swirl runners on Saturday and quilted and bound them on Monday.

Were you keeping track of the number of projects this is?  Seven table runners and one quilt quilted!

I promised you yesterday that you might see a little of a new project.  Remember yesterday I showed you pillows that I used to make with hand embroidery.  I have been chatting with a few of you that are hand embroidering and making me want to jump back into that too.  Well I took the leap and here is what I did so far.  When I used to make these I did them in different thread colors.  But I wanted to do a red work snowman and border with gray and the red and white checkerboards.  He is sitting on my gray wool mat but I think I will add another gray border.  I think this one will be a little wall hanging.  It felt so good to do embroidery again in the evening while watching TV.

Gotta add in a purple posie for your viewing:)

I will continue to work on more table runners this week, I am thinking snowman and pumpkins ones.  There might be a little more embroidery too.  And of course I need to finish up my Sunshine blog hop project for Thursday so that is priority.

Have a great week and don't forget to go check out some fellow quilt bloggers progress at Home Sewn By Us linky party for To Do Tuesday

Patriotic times two

Just a quick photo of another of my stars and stripes table runners as I have shown several of them already.  But this is for the record that I have been busy and productive this week😊

There is that cute striped binding!  So many times we all get to shaking our head at ourselves for the amount of fabric we have in our stash.  Right now I am so very thankful for having the foresight to buy a lot, hahahaha.  Seriously I feel really lucky and happy when I can walk to my closet and pull out what I need to complete a project.

For the last month I have wanted to make a patriotic version of my reversed 'S' swirl runner.  However every time I looked at my patriotic fabrics I just couldn't put my fingers on the right combination of prints.  Of course they needed to be red, white and blue and I needed to have 5 different fabrics.  And bingo yesterday I looked again as I was putting some others away and I found the combination I liked!

I quickly cut out the size of strips I wanted, stitched them together and cut the wedges.  In the morning I was able to sew them together and quilt with the overall freehand hook swirl on my long arm and got it bound.  Both of these runners are now listed in my Etsy shop.

We are enjoying our Calla Lilies so much, they are so tropical looking.  Only four open so far but there should be a few more.  I lost a few of my Calla's over the winter.

I hope you are having a great week.  Tomorrow I start quilting my June OMG quilt!!!
This was my first trial of using the new blogger.  I didn't find it too difficult.  One just has to hover over each item to see what it is for before you need it!  I hope this posts alright😛 and everyone is still allowed to comment!
