Wiggles and Sunshine

It's Wiggle Time!  That's the name of this pattern by Cynthia.  I have made this one a few times as it is fun and a fast one to whip up.  I just had to take a day and do something other than a table runner:)

These rainy days make it very hard to get a good photo, but these are some bright orange, green and yellow colors, almost neon.  This one will remain a flimsy for now and reside in the donation quilt tops pile until I get time to prepare a backing for it.  It measures at 48"x54".  It was just what I needed for a break:)

And then I was ready to get back at table runners, but which one.  I looked through photos and decided I needed to do another Morning Star Accuquilt runner.  Remember I did a tutorial for them last year for this runner.  It looks complicated with lots of pieces but it really isn't, using the dies makes all the difference. The previous ones look almost identical as they were from the same fabrics or nearly the same.  I just think the yellows make it look like sunshine!

Last two wiggles-Q2FAL's

These are the last two Wiggle Time quilts that are part of my FAL17 goals.  I feel like I have been a quilting and binding maniac this past month. But it's all good for sure.  These are ones that I have worked on during Sarah's H2H project. These quilts along with several others will be donated in honor of H2H.
Just a simple dog bone meander made for a quick finish.

The backing is a brushed nylon and using it with a low loft poly batting it is so soft and cuddly.  I had a stripe for the binding in the stash that worked perfectly.

I love working with the bright fabrics, but these pastels were so calming for a change. This is another Q2FAL

The sun is shining so bright today that it made it hard to get good photos!  I used the dong bone meander in the background and the wishbone design in the purple, green, pink and yellow sections.  You should be able to click on the picture for a larger peek;)

How are you doing on your H2H projects?  It's not too late to whip one or two up.
The Wiggle Time pattern can be found at Cynthia's.

A wiggle for H2H

I finished another quilt for my donation for H2H, it is called Wiggle Time. The pattern is by Cynthia. If you have never tried her pattern, you should! I love the ease and quickness of this one. This is also another one knocked off my Q2 list for FAL 2017.  That makes 3 out of 11 done for me-feeling good I am!
So the fabric and the quilting are nothing special, but it is done and it will comfort someone in need.

I needed a bit wider backing and so I used up the leftover bits from the front.

Scrappy progress

Last weekend's post on Scrappy Goodness I showed you 2 new projects and told you I started a third one. Here is the third one all pieced, it's Wiggle Time by Cynthia Brunz.  I think it is my go to pattern for a quick quilt to use up some fabric. My dark blue flowered background was in my stash, as well as enough scraps of the red, yellow and green to whip this one up. I have made several of this pattern now and I am still not tired of it;-)  I apologize for the horrible picture, our weather did not cooperate to take it outside.

I made progress on my Missouri Star Pinwheel in a churn dash blocks. I had the blue ones done last weekend and now I added these 6 green ones. Four more need to be done this week.

I now have this one into a flimsy, so I think I had a good week of sewing.

This week in between a Dr. appt, babysitting, Turkey day and Black Friday I need to work on my RSC16 blocks to get them into flimsies.  Scrap on my fellow bloggers!

scrappy goodness

I started 2 new scrappy donation quilts today, yes 2 in one day. Crazy right?  Today was a meeting of sewing friends. We call ourselves The Mod Squad because we all liked modern quilting. But it has evolved more into sewing whatever we want when we meet, doesn't have to modern. So I needed something easy to sew while chatting away.  So strip sewing it was, then of course cutting and re-sewing. I got the interior of this quilt together. I'll show you the whole thing of course when I get the borders on and everything is pressed.  Sorta teasing you aren't I, sorry;-)  I love the pink print!

The second one I worked on today was another Wiggle quilt. I only got the strips sewed and started cutting when it was time to go home. Since strip sets are not all that exciting I will show you that another day too.

And this one I started a few months back when we had blue as our RSC16 color of the month. I made 2 blocks and didn't continue. So now that the end of the year is coming I need to get my rear in gear!!
I have 2 more blue blocks cut and ready to sew.  Then I will do 10 green and put into a quilt about lap size. This a tutorial from Missouri Star called Disappearing churn dash pinwheel. Easy and fun to make. I love so many of their tutorials and hope to do more soon.

Getting my Wiggle on!

Earlier this month Cynthia had her patterns on sale so I thought I should pick up her Wiggle Time pattern and get my wiggle on!!  And I did wiggle yesterday, LOL  I went to my charity fabric cupboard and pulled out a background piece and coordinating scraps. But, alas, my background piece wasn't big enough. I really wanted to use this one so I thought I would just scale back the pattern and make a neonatal size with it. So less blocks and 1 less row and I had just enough to make it work. What a fast, fun little pattern, in a couple hours I had this sewn...

We then went off to a retirement party and when we came home I went back to the charity fabric cupboard and pulled out for another one and started in on it.  This will be the size from the pattern. Back to wiggling for me today!
