Slow stitching

 I hope everyone is having a great December. Ours has been busy. But I have taken time to do some slow stitching for a change of pace. While traveling the first week of December I started knitting socks again.

But as you can see this is as far as I can go because my needle broke. Will have to wait to continue until I get to Hobby Lobby.  

But that is okay I had other yarn and needles to start making slippers again. One pair done using a burgundy 4 ply yarn with a sport weight pink yarn.

And second pair started using a variegated 4ply with a blue sport weight yarn. My daughter-in-law loves these and so I make and give to her to donate to someone in need in her community.

And I also started this Christmas Tree stitchery from a pattern by Melisa at Pinker n Punkin blog.

Slow stitching after the snow

 The start of a new pair of socks. The teal color is a Kroy sock yarn that was thinner than some others I have used. So I paired it with a skinny 2/24 acrylic/wool in gray. Why gray you ask-because it was the best combo that I had in the stash!  This is my Slow Stitching Sunday project.

We are staying put for a few days because of the 7-8" of snow we got from 3 am Saturday until Sunday 6 am. 

Hubby had plowed it mid morning on Saturday and then early this morning again. The sun is out now but it's only 22 degrees and going down to 5 deg. tonight:(

A little of everything

 Happy Monday to you all!  This past week I dug into my Christmas panel bin and decided this one was next to get perked up a bit. Here is how it looked after I squared and trimmed it up. 

From my stash, I chose a red with gold sprinkles for the first border to enhance this panel. Next was the black and gray fabrics for many 2.5" finished HST's(half square triangles). These were quickly cut using my HST die from my 8" Accuquilt cube. You all know how much I love using my dies for the quickness and the accuracy.

After the HST's were added I framed them with the same red fabric before adding a green holly print final border.

After some custom quilting, binding and a hanging sleeve added it was time for a photo shoot;)

All fabrics came from the stash.

So rewarding to have used another panel, which is now in my Etsy shop.  This week I need to remake three table runners and quilt up yet another panel!

On Saturday we enjoyed the day with both our kids, their spouses and our three grandkids for our Thanksgiving. It had been a couple years since we were all together. Our daughter made this turkey shaped appetizer plate.

We supplied the turkey and our Son-in-law offered to smoke it. It was delicious. We had all the other normal thanksgiving food too. 

I woke up super early on Sunday morning and finished up my socks! And just in time to wear them with a purple fleece yesterday.

A little knitting and lots of crocheting

When we travel I like to have some hand work that I can easily do while hubby is busy driving otherwise I get bored.  And I have lots of yarn and like to make something useful.  Therefore over the last 3 years I crocheted hats for young kids.  I tried different free patterns and then add my own touches here and there using different stripes or stitches.  These have been done for a while except for weaving in the ends so last week I did this in a couple of evenings. Yesterday I delivered 43 hats to Family Services. I needed to get them done and out to youngsters as we are in the cold spell area that is hitting several states as I write.

The knitting is the start of another sock for me. I love the self striping yarn. And the colors in this are so perfect for me as I wear lots of purple and teal color shirts with jeans.  

In the sewing department I have been digging out working on a few UFO's. But that is a topic for another post:)

Weekly Goals

We meet again on this Tuesday to check out our goals for the coming week and see if we met last week's goals.

On my list last week- along with the photos of what I accomplished this week. 

• Start a new embroidery project ✅

I found this cute hand embroidery pattern in the Primitive Stitches Etsy shop.  A few evenings of stitchin' this week and it is all stitched.  Now I have to decide what I want to do with it from here. 

• Start a new pair of socks ✅

I am using two different yarns in an effort to use up leftovers.  One skein is a variegated green and the other variegated blue. So far I am changing colors every 10 rows for the leg. I thought it would be ugly when I started and now I kinda like the uniqueness of it!  I don't remember the name of the yarn but they are the same kind. 

• Patriotic Welcome wall hanging ✅

Almost the same as the previous one I made, but this one uses a different white fabric. You can find my pattern in my pattern Etsy shop. 

• An applique stars patriotic table runner ✅

And on Saturday I finished this table runner using three Morning Star blocks from the Accuquilt Morning Star BOB(block on board).  This wasn't on my to do list but I had time and had the blocks already started. It didn't take long to add the borders and get it quilted and bound. 

Goals for this week are:

• Make a Cherry table runner
• Make a cupcake table runner
• Knit more on the sock
• Work on a UFO cross stitch project
• Use a mini charm pack in a table runner
• Work on my One Monthly Goal-time is running out for the month and I have done nothing on it.

Painting Fun/Sock knitting

Today was such a fun day, a group of friends gathering for a rock painting day!  Most of us are not artists but thought it would be fun to cheer each other on.  Did you know that Pinterest has tons of ideas for easy to hard designs to paint on rocks. Just like quilting ideas are plentiful so are painting ones.  Here are the three I did.  

Seriously it was so fun, just letting go and enjoying being with friends.  We laughed and chatted for hours, we might even have done some snacking😋.  They said it was okay to show you all of our rocks we painted. 

Some of my evenings I knitted another sock.  I have it's mate in the works also.

To Do Tuesday #44

 Hmmm what did I do all week!  I didn't set any goals so I could just do whatever pleased me.  Oh wait I know what I did, LOL  

After seeing the cute Clearly Organized bags made by Daryl, I thought they would make a great bag to hold table runners that I kit up for my winter sewing.  I discovered I had some vinyl, although it wasn't the right gauge but I decided to try it any way.  As it usually is with a new pattern it takes time to figure out each step. But after a long afternoon I had it made.  This weekend I cut out several of my turkey table runners and soon discovered I had cut just the right amount to fit neatly in this bag!  

Did you notice that was a two-fer...I made the bag and I cut the turkey table runners;)

I might have done a little online shopping too.  I found these clips on Amazon for a good price. They are not the original clips but they work just as good I think.  These are the small ones and they came in this little plastic box. 

My evenings are spent with a little sock knitting.  I am making the matching sock for one I did last spring. 

Once again I am not setting any goals, I am liking this fly by the seat of my pants time right now!! Have a great week!

To Do Tuesday #43

 Well hello Tuesday and hello December!! Can you believe we are on the last month of this crazy wild year!  I think I shall start slowing down just a bit and start thinking of things I want to do for fun and not just for the shop.  It's been a fantastic year and I have loved every minute but there comes a time when it is slow down or burn out.  And I don't want to do the latter.  

For this week the goal was to:

1. work on for 4 placemats and a mug rug ✅
2. continue knitting and hopefully finish the sock ✅
3. whip up 2 more table runners ✅
4. more card making is needed  Not Done

My customer had previously purchased a buffalo plaid snowman table runner and then asked if I could make her a set of 4 placemats and a mug rug to match.  Isn't this mug rug the cutest!!  I had to shrink the snowman quite a bit but so worth the effort.  

And here are her four matching placemats, I told her I am jealous as her table is going to be looking so festive!  I am getting low on the outer border fabric, I tried to order some at JoAnns but they are out of stock.  I sure hope to get it in again next year as the table runners were selling well this year. 

Lots more knitting happened and I have a completed pair that might just have been worn after taking this photo.  And just look at those stripes that match!!!  I gotta be honest, that one just plain old happened.  I guess the stars were aligned just right, I was pretty darn surprised and happy!  These socks were the fastest I have ever hand knit myself a pair and I enjoyed it a lot.  Sure I could whip up a pair in an hour or less on my knitting machine, but then I would have to sew up the long side seam.  I have done it before and I don't mind the seam.  But it is just nice to have some hand work to do while sitting and watching tv. 

Whipping up two more table runners... yes these are new ones for this week even though they look the same as ones you have already seen. But it was what was needed for the shop so I went with it.  These two runners are already out the door. This weekend was really busy with lots of online shoppers.   So much fun but now I am down to 7 table runners left that are Christmas ones!  

And the last goal was to make more Christmas cards and that just didn't happen.  I still have time so I am not to worried. 

You will just have to be surprised next week with what I get done as I am not setting a single goal!  I am just going to wing it and see what I feel like doing when I get up each morning.  I haven't done that in ages, it might feel foreign to me, LOL

To Do Tuesday # 42

 Hello Tuesday!  Another fast week has gone by.  Yes I met some goals, in fact since my goal list was loosely set, you might say I met them all.

This was my list to do:

 Leave space open for any more runners I might need to make. ✅

A Through the Window snowman table runner was needed. Luckily I had one all pieced in the cupboard so quick quilting, binding and adding their faces happened one day.  If you are interested I have a pattern for this one in my Etsy pattern shop.

I have always wanted to add a blue Christmas/Winter table runner in my shop. So I took time to whip up a blue version of my Star Struck. There is a tutorial for this one HERE. The fabrics in this one have metallic designs which make this runner shimmer.

More Gnome runners✅

Yep, I dug deep and got two more of these done, they are identical so only showing one. These little guys are very popular, it is crazy how many patterns I have sold for them in the last 2+ weeks! I am just stunned.  I have background fabric for two more and then I will have to dig in the stash to see what else will work.  There was an order put in for more, but the shipping has been delayed because of the pandemic. 

Make myself and my DIL some Christmas/winter masks. ✅

I did make one for me and one for my DIL.  I don't want to post pix yet because she sometimes reads my blog.  And I want to make a few more.

Although I forgot to put more sock knitting on my list last week, there was some good progress made! I kitchnered the toe on the first one and knit this far on the second one. 

Over the weekend I took some time away from the sewing and quilting, I know, gasp, right!!! There hasn't been enough time to play with my card making.  Inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest, I made a few Christmas cards.  The holly leaves and the Merry were cut with my Silhouette Cameo die cutter.  I just don't get to play with it often, but it sure is fun when I do.  

For the coming week I hope to whip up 2 more table runners, continue knitting and hopefully finish the sock. And more card making is needed. But first I have an order to work on for 4 placemats and a mug rug. 

As I sit here typing this post the day is just beginning and it is getting light enough out that I can see the snow starting to fall. We are supposed to only get a couple inches so no big deal.  I don't know if I will get another post out this week so I am going to Wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!  Because of the pandemic, it will just be the hubby and I cooking up a turkey breast and pumpkin pie.  What are your plans for turkey day?
